With its dramatic, ankle-skimming length, bold shoulders and belted detailing, you’d never know that & Other Stories’s wool trench wasn’t a designer buy. Throw it over your favourite winter staples (a polished tracksuit and cashmere knit would do nicely) and watch your outfit become runway-ready.

You can always rely on Loewe for statement-making outerwear, and this season, it comes in the form of a leather belted jacket. Create interest with textural layers – see: Theory’s lime-green brushed cardigan – and classic, straight-leg jeans. A vintage Chloe Paddington bag wouldn’t go amiss either.

Damson Madder has partnered with END on a holiday capsule that blends utility fabrics with cocktail-ready silhouettes. Shushu/Tong’s latest drop on Net-a-Porter is a study in “dark academia”, except it’s not very dark at all – let’s call it light-hearted librarian. We’re talking cutesy floral cardigans, ruffled pencil skirts and bows aplenty. Balance out the chintz with a scrunched-up blazer from Glenn Martens X H&M’s buzzy collab, which drops this week.

When you find yourself staring blankly at your open wardrobe this autumn, why not try a bit of double denim? Easy to style (just stick to denim in similar washes) and super comfy, the Canadian tuxedo is also ideal for layering: see Arket’s knitted polo, which comes in the perfect shade of fire-engine red.

While dresses might not be the first things that come to mind when the mercury drops, a cosy knitted iteration might just offer a tempting, seasonally-appropriate option. Cos has also delivered on cold weather gems with its navy cord funnel-neck jacket, which will be a perfect finishing touch for everything in your autumn wardrobe.

If you’re in the market for winter occasion-wear, look no further than Reiss’s collaboration with The Royal Ballet, which is full of elevated separates, from dresses to tailoring. We have our eye on the menswear blazer, which will pair nicely with baggy jeans and loafers, for easy smart-casual dressing.
